Sustainable Development Goals - No3.Good Health and Wellbeing
As a startup we‘re focussed on our contribution to people and planet. The Sustainable Development Goals provide a framework “to end poverty, protect the planet and improve the lives and prospects of everyone, everywhere.”
We have selected 6 of the 17 goals to help us focus on the key areas that we will contribute to as a business. Over the next 6 weeks we‘re going to look at each of these Goals and explain how they relate to what we want to achieve. The 6 we have chosen are divided into People and Planet, 3 for each. Our P E O P L E related goals are: 3. Good Health and Wellbeing 5. Gender Equality 9. Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure
The 6 we have chosen are divided into People and Planet, 3 for each. Our P L A N E T related goals are: 12. Responsible Consumption and Production 13. Climate Action 15. Life on Land
This week we start with Goal 3 - Good Health and Wellbeing; “Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages.”
For us this relates to employees and the communities in which we, hopefully, one day will operate in and beyond. We have a dream to be the best employer in the world and to have the healthiest, happiest workforce alive.
We also want to contribute positively to the lives of others. Whether that’s in the local communities in which we operate or by getting involved with overseas projects to help bring showering facilities or clean sanitation.
This Goal also relates to positive mind health. Loving and caring for ourselves and being able to manage our thoughts and feelings every hour of everyday. We are passionate about doing our bit for suicide awareness and promoting good mind health.
One of the targets for the UN, related to this Goal is that; “By 2030, reduce by one third premature mortality from non-communicable diseases through prevention and treatment and promote mental health and well-being.
This is the target that we want to contribute to. Good sanitation and access to clean showers shouldn’t be a luxury in the 21st Century. It’s a basic human right.
And we will be an advocate for self care, loving yourself and positive mind health. Caring for our brains is as important as physical fitness.
