How can taking a shower make a difference?
Do you take a shower every morning? Sometimes at night before you go to bed? After exercise? It's something many of us do without even thinking. When I was growing up we didn't have a shower in our house. I had a bath every Sunday. Yet now, not having a shower seems like an alien concept.
Recently I've been thinking, what if this simple, daily hygiene routine could help make a difference to someone who needs it? What if the 'thing' we use to protect our bathrooms when we shower helps protect people? This is the realisation that I have come to - the need to do more. That and an astonished face and "why hasn't the business been doing this all along"?!
Since starting out in 2011 with a website, a few Google adverts and of course the obligatory nod to social media, the business has always given a donation from sales supporting good causes. The main beneficiary being CALM (the Campaign Against Living Miserably). I've never focused on developing it - a combination of lack of confidence and not knowing what I wanted from it. I treated it as a hobby that I did whilst working full time. I made all blinds myself at home and was never driven to try to 'get rich'.
But what has always mattered to me is trying to give something back. So it really shouldn't have come as any surprise that after a year of half heartedly trying to launch my product into the market, I really wasn't 'feeling it'. A couple of weeks of soul searching and writing notes, I finally had the light bulb moment. I always wanted to find a gap in the market and have my own business. But I also always said that I wanted to treat people as I would want to be treated as an employee.
As of the 1st September 2017, Senspasce Shower Blinds is donating 100% of profits to charities that protect people.
I am putting this in writing as my pledge to all my customers as I am now working on developing the business to what it needs to be.
